THE Johor government is ready to consider Barisan Nasional’s (BN) proposal for Pasir Gudang and Pengerang to become districts, according to Menteri Besar Onn Hafiz Ghazi.
However, he said several sensitive issues needed to be further scrutinised and discussed first.
“If the idea can be realised, it will be implemented,” he said after a meeting with the BN election director and staff in Johor Baru yesterday.
Previously, Johor BN chairman Hasni Mohammad had called for the state government to consider forming the districts, with both areas meeting the required criteria.

Hasni, who is also former menteri besar, said this was also part of the political reforms the coalition promised during the state elections in March.
There are 10 districts in Johor: Johor Baru, Pontian, Kluang, Batu Pahat, Kota Tinggi, Mersing, Kulai, Segamat, Muar and Tangkak.
Meanwhile, BN deputy chairman Mohamad Hasan, present at the meeting, said BN is ready for the next election.
Mohamad, who is also the BN election director, said he had visited nine states and had noted the level of preparation. – Bernama, August 20, 2022.
